Mariani Landscape, a leader in the residential Landscape Architecture, Construction, and Maintenance industry for over 60 years, has an immediate opening for an Assistant Annual Buyer based in our Lake Bluff, Illinois facility.   

This associate will oversee the overall successful execution of multiple crop production planning and greenhouse operations.  This includes all aspects of greenhouse production, including soil science, weed management, plant growing, temperature control, plant nutrition, pest and disease control, and order fulfillment of all greenhouse grown and purchased crops.

Job Requirements
• Propagate and maintain highest quality of plant material available throughout the green houses and poly houses.
• Assist in Purchasing the highest quality herbaceous plant material available, while negotiating the best price of plant material.
• Assist in Ordering and receive all herbaceous plant material to meet the needs of the Construction and Maintenance Departments.
• Participate in the scheduling of herbaceous propagation.
• Care for stock that is grown, staged and waiting to go to a job or inventoried items.
• Provide input for future herbaceous crops, working closely with the herbaceous plant buyer and greenhouse supervisor.
• Participate in training the green house staff, enabling them to accomplish tasks in accordance with Mariani quality standards.
• Oversee pulling and staging of herbaceous orders.
• Coordinate with Greenhouse Supervisor and Herbaceous Quality Controller on receiving deliveries and staging in the appropriate location.
• Work with the purchasing staff on the layout and organization of poly houses.
• Participate in offsite trips to locate appropriate and needed herbaceous plant material as needed.
• Oversee and participate in loading and unloading of herbaceous plant materials.
• Record all plants propagated, moved, sized or discarded on the daily log sheet.
• Follow the purchasing process (i.e. using agreements, dissemination of information to departments and production, etc.).
• Maintain accurate database of available herbaceous plant material located in the green houses and poly houses.
• Assist in creating a production calendar.
• Participate in vendor trips to locate appropriate and needed herbaceous plant material.
• Identify new vendors for future purchases.
