Job Description

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Work closely with head grower to assist in planning, planting, growing and selling a variety of plant offerings. This includes: water/fertility, monitoring and management, scouting for pests and diseases, application of routine pesticides, growth regulators and record keeping

Assist with conducting and updating inventory

Maintain clear records of growing activities

Mix and administer fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides

Ensure that all production and maintenance work areas are kept clean and safe

Ensure that the equipment for growing proposes is in proper working conditions

Perform other duties as required by manager

Job Requirements
Experience / Qualifications:

2 years of horticulture or propagation experience

Knowledge and experience of propagation and growing of plants for retail and wholesale

Understanding of basic horticulture and agricultural practices

Familiarity with working in greenhouses

Knowledge of plant maintenance by pinching, pruning and cutting back

Understanding of basic irrigation and fertility management

Able to read, understand and comply with regulatory pesticide record keeping

A Texas Private Pesticide License is a plus. If applicant is not a license holder, applicant must be able to pass physical and pulmonary test prior to obtaining license

Ability to lift 50 lbs. for up to 20 minutes and perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor

Effective time management and organizational skills, strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently

Fast learning with attention to detail, self-motivated, ability to adjust to new and changing environments

Must be capable of working within broad parameters with minimal supervision

Must work with co-workers and customers in a collaborative courteous professional manner at all times

Flexibility and willingness to help in other areas of the business
