We grow a wide variety of woody shrubs and ornamentals, including broadleaf evergreens, conifers, grasses, flowering shrubs, perennials, roses, small fruits, Japanese maples and more. We ship to a national customer base that includes major retailers, independent nurseries/garden centers, re-wholesalers, and landscapers.

We are recruiting for an Assistant Grower.
Successful candidate will have a four-year degree in Horticulture or Agriculture and be bi-lingual in English and Spanish.

General Description
The Assistant Grower (AG) reports to the Production Manager. The AG’s primary responsibilities include assisting with the direction, management, and coordination of the duties of the Site Supervisors and Section Growers. The AG will assist with the planning and preparation of the nursery production plan, monitoring growing, potting and field planting. The AG will work closely with all departments in a cooperative and collaborative manner to ensure overall cost effective and efficient nursery operations. The AG will participate in and support the training of all employees in the basic methodologies of Continuous Improvement/Lean and collaborate with leaders within the company to identify and prioritize Continuous Improvement/Lean opportunities.
Specific Duties
· Work closely with Production Manager, Site Supervisors and Section Growers to grow and maintain quality plants for our customers.
· Provide support and planning to production crews to ensure the most efficient use of labor and equipment.
· Track and support tasks established at Manager meetings and Section Grower meetings.
· Communicate with Sales team to address concerns, timing and/or status of crops.
· Work with all cultural aspects of growing plants at the nursery including irrigation, soil and plant health, fertilization, and chemical applications.
· Communicate and enforce company policies.
· Follow proper chain of command to receive work instructions and report any problems or concerns to the Production Manager.
· Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner.
