Job Description

Great opportunity to join this team as an Asst. Head Grower to help lead the team and assist in the management of crops in our facility.

You'll be working in approximately 5 acres of greenhouses which are primarily glass structures with Priva environmental controls, Dutch mobile tables and Ebb and Flo irrigation. You'll also assist with the growing of potted plants outdoors in another 5 acres of space.
 
There is also a major focus on young plant production especially during the winter months and early spring.
 
 
Responsibilities include:
 
· Overseeing plant production both inside and outside.


· Leading the coordination and communication across Production and Growing and Planning teams to ensure that timelines and design specifications are consistently met.

· Work closely with the Operations Manager to facilitate timely and efficient completion of process during our young plant and finished seasons.

· Hands-on watering and operation of our Priva system.
· Significant knowledge of PGR’s and the hand’s on application of them.

· The ability to run growing trials/experiments to continue improving our growing protocols.

· Interaction with other growers and our operations team in regard to trialing new plant varieties.

· Knowledge of pest scouting and use of biological controls and beneficial insect releases

· Willingness to obtain a NH Pesticide Applicator’s License

· Applications of chemical pest controls as needed; knowledge of IPM strategies

· Monitoring of trials, to include both plant and chemical
Job Requirements


· A Bachelors’ Degree in Horticulture or related experience.

· A minimum of 5 years of growing a diversity of floriculture crops across a range of finished specifications.

· Excellent verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills

· Experience leading, training, mentoring and guiding staff.

· Proficiency in scheduling crops and working with production planning systems.

· Expertise across a range of greenhouse designs and systems technology

· Flexibility to work on a variable schedule based on plant needs.
