Job Description

Crop Managers are responsible for the production of greenhouse crops in any of our locations. Product must be shipped on schedule, accurately, and meeting Clesen Wholesale quality standards. Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Crop production planning
  • Crop sowing and cultivation
  • Establish workload assignments and effective oversight 
  • Coordinate and prioritize crop maintenance activities to optimize crop quality and reduce waste
  • Develop talents and abilities of direct reports
  • Ensure timely shipping and receiving
  • Fully leverage company resources to plan work, forecast staffing, and record timely and accurate data
  • Maintain facility

Physical Requirements: Able to bend, stretch, and reach with unrestricted motion. Able to remain on feet for majority of the day. Can lift 20 pounds or more.

Job Requirements
• Experience working in manufacturing or greenhouse or growing environment needed. Knowledge of ornamental plants and greenhouse
crop production is required.
• Proven ability to understand goals, strategies and direction and translate to staff in individual assignments and directives.
• Dependable and reliable work record including reporting to work on time consistently and following directions accurately without reminding.
• Leader of people who can get the most of others and can partner with colleagues and managers across the company. Demonstrate ability
to create a team environment helping out others, creating a cohesive work unit, and contributing to a positive work atmosphere. Strong
track record of effectively directing and delegating work to others. Understands how to motivate and inspire direct reports.
• High School education or equivalent experience preferred. English language proficiency required to participate in management meetings,
understand corporate goals, understand employment/safety/legal guidelines.
• Strong competency in using various software and technology tools via ERP and other company systems. Can communicate effectively in
writing via email and by creating procedures and policies for others to follow.
• Strong verbal communication skills to communicate with clients, staff, management, sales, and other staff. Spanish language proficiency
strongly encouraged.
• Ability to flex and work in multiple company locations. Can work overtime as required.
