Job Description
POTTED UP is a boutique landscape firm offering landscape design, installation and maintenance services in the city of Boston, MA. Our work is customized, sensitive and site-specific; inspired and crafted from an array of styles to achieve our client’s goals for their outdoor space(s).
 

Position Description: Fine Gardener

We seek an experienced fine gardener to join our team and assist in all aspects of garden installation and maintenance services. This is a full-time, seasonal position reporting to the Field Manager. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing maintenance of Trees, shrubs (15’ or smaller), ground-covers, grasses, perennials, annuals and herbs.
    • Tasks include: pruning, transplanting, deadheading, weeding, raking, mulching, ongoing fertilization (organic) utilizing IMP practices
  • Installation of small “city sized” in-ground gardens (no construction or hardscape) and rooftop container gardens
  • Effective time management on properties as specified via client contract
  • Daily completion of daily work orders for billing purposes, submitted daily to Director of Operations
  • Attention to detail
  • Lead and train a team of 2 or more gardeners on a daily basis
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
• 2+ years gardening experience, plant knowledge, and horticultural skills a must.
• Highly skilled in hand pruning of shrubs and small trees with perennial maintenance skills
• Container gardening experience
• Holiday decorating experience
• Professional work attire and clean personal appearance
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proactive, self-directed, ability to problem solve
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in inclement weather (Heat, humidity, rain, snow, cold)
• Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50lbs of material (ground level and up/down staircases)
• MA driver’s license with an excellent driving record. Comfortability of city driving preferred
• Possess a positive forward outlook, collaborative team driven work ethic and celebrating accomplishments
