Job Description


The Landscape Gardening Instructor is responsible for teaching assigned courses in the Landscape Gardening curriculum, and participating in department enrollment, support and engagement initiatives. Instructional duties will include teaching assigned classes in the Landscape Gardening program, using a variety of delivery modes: traditional classroom, online, hybrid, weekend, eight-week, and evening. Class sessions may take place on the Sandhills Community College campus, the Hoke Center campus, and on Moore and Hoke County high school campuses. The ability to integrate with other disciplines to support program and department goals is a plus. Additional faculty duties include advising students, serving as the lead Horticulture Club Advisor, assisting with program marketing and student recruitment, and performing enrollment and program support duties as assigned by the department chair.

Job Requirements
Have the appropriate academic credentials to teach at the program level.

An Associate degree in Landscape Gardening or a related field is required, a bachelor's degree or higher is preferred.

Possess, or have the ability to obtain, industry recognized credentials (ex. North Carolina Pesticide License, Certified Plant Professional, Registered Landscape Contractor, Certified Arborist, etc.).

Possess a strong commitment to the mission of community colleges.

Have excellent written, oral communication, and organizational skills.

Have an appreciation of the value of colleagueship.
