Job Description
  • Job Summary
    • Diagnose customer and nursery concerns with plant material, landscaping and gardening related issues. Including: pest/weed identification and control measures, diseases and environmental/mechanical injury to plants.
    • Resolve customer inquiries by offering solutions, explanations and options to help them achieve desired results.
    • Manage chemical inventory by placing orders, pricing products, organizing chemicals both on the sales floor and in storage.
    • Assist in hiring, training and scheduling employees within the Diagnostics & Chemicals department.
  • Job Qualifications
    • Education: Bachelors of Science in an appropriate field: Horticulture, Plant/Soil Science, etc. OR equivalent field experience.
    • Experience: 10 years of full-time employment in the industry. Preferably management or executive level.
    • Certifications: No certifications required but are preferred (ISA, UNLA, etc.)
    • Continuing Education: Ability to keep up on current trends and laws for the industry. Also, keeping certifications current if necessary.
  • Skills
    • Excellent customer service skills required.
    • Identify common pests, diseases and environmental factors for ornamental plants, gardens and lawns.
    • Identify common ornamental plants for the trade and required growing needs.
    • Ability to interact with associates in a professional manner.
    • Excellence with both verbal and written communications.
    • Ability to use computers easily: Google Platform, Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn new software (i.e. our POS system)
    • Organization of projects and staff management throughout the year.
    • Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects throughout the course of a day.
  • Benefits
    • Base pay starting from $60K, increase possible based on prior industry experience.
