Job Description

 

 

Responsible for McCorkle Nurseries Inc Dearing Operations (MNI DO) including personnel and departments at the Luckey's Bridge and Neal Mill Farms. 
 
Lead, manage and hold accountable all managers, supervisors, and teams to efficiently accomplish MNI DO’s mission. Responsible for financial management of operations, including budget creation, cost control, and overall financial health of MNI Dearing Operations.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term strategies for Dearing Operations in alignment with the company’s vision and goals as a member of the leadership team. 

  • Lead, manage and hold accountable all managers in MNI DO departments including Production, Shipping, Quality, Inventory, Maintenance & Facilities and Tag & Label departments and motivate the workforce to maximize productivity, flexibility, and cross-training.  


  • Create a positive and challenging environment which is conducive to high performance and teamwork and a great place to work until the job is done right. 


  • Set and monitor budgets, production targets, and quality standards for the operations, and ensuring optimal use of resources and inputs.  


  • Serve, recruit, train, and evaluate the performance of the department managers, and provide them with feedback and guidance. 


  • Own an incident-free environment by emphasizing safety daily, leading by example, caring for and involving team members, promoting a safety culture, achieving excellent housekeeping and workplace organization, executing clear safety policies and leading training.  


  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, company policies, procedures, and quality standards and conduct regular inspections and audits of the operations. 


  • Research and implement new and innovative methods and technologies to improve the efficiency, productivity, and profitability of the operations.

  •  

  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders, and represent the company in the horticultural industry and community.  


  • Fully understand McCorkle Quality Policy and objectives. 

 


Job Requirements
BA degree required, preferably in Business, Industrial Engineering or Horticulture

5 or more years in a leadership role, nursery experience preferred

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities  

Must possess strong technology skills, including proficiency in software and tools for efficient management and communication.

Ability to organize, lead, motivate, and care for all personnel involved in operations 

Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment and consistently meet tight timelines 

Ability to coordinate complex contracts and contractors 

Spanish as a second language, preferred
