Combine your skills and ability and help us grow for the future! Plant Marketing is looking for an individual to join our company as the Head Grower and to be responsible for producing and maintaining high quality crops in a fast moving environment.

POSITION SUMMARY The Head Grower manages a small staff of assistant growers and watering staff in the growing, care, and maintenance of Plant Marketing’s primary crops. These crops include spring annuals, vegetables, and perennials and seasonal crops of lilies, fall mums, and poinsettias. The Head Grower will be responsible for maintaining the overall plant health and appearance including all steps necessary to get them to market.


Plant Marketing is a 24 acre, family owned and managed, wholesale plant nursery producing seasonal crops for primarily the big box retail environment since 2001. We are a “get the job done” company which means longer hours at key times, and shorter hours in the offseason. We offer competitive wages, paid holidays and vacations, and a 401k program.

Job Requirements
• Monitors growing conditions and makes appropriate changes to environmental conditions to ensure optimal crop performance.
• Monitors plant development to identify the existence of pests or disease and removing substandard or diseased plants to maintain quality standards.
• Determines application rates of fertilizers and chemicals and applies or directs the application.
• Effectively present information and respond to questions from management.
• Work with buyer to maintain an appropriate inventory of growing supplies and chemicals.
• Maintains records of production and reviews records to identify trends and to forecast future space and production needs.
• Schedules staff, assigns and monitors work. Trains employees in growing and watering procedures.
• Maintain a current knowledge of growing techniques and technologies.
• Works with Human Resources to provide pesticide and safety training to all employees and to maintain records as required by Federal or State regulations.

• 2 to 4 year degree in a horticulture related area and 5 years of related work experience preferred.
• Must have in depth knowledge of the safe handling and application of chemicals.
• The ability to speak Spanish as a primary or secondary language is a plus.

• Ability to work in conditions typically found in a greenhouse with high humidity and varying temperatures. Ability to be on feet while performing job responsibilities.
• Ability to lift 15‐50 pounds occasionally.
• Be able to obtain and maintain a valid Wisconsin pesticide handler license.
• This position requires a 40+ hour work week and requires weekend work during peak seasons and as otherwise necessary.
