Job Description

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and disciplined Horticulture Operations Manager to oversee daily operations, enforce standards, and ensure accountability across our staff and shop facilities. This role combines operational leadership with horticultural expertise, ensuring that both people and plants are managed to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills along with hands-on landscaping and horticultural experience to maintain quality, efficiency, and professionalism throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Staff Oversight & Accountability

    • Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, and performance.

    • Hold staff accountable for meeting daily, weekly, and seasonal goals.

    • Enforce company policies, safety rules, and professional conduct.

    • Provide corrective action and coaching when necessary.

  • Operations Management

    • Oversee shop organization, cleanliness, and proper use of tools/equipment.

    • Ensure inventory and materials are properly stocked, tracked, and secured.

    • Coordinate with crews to make sure they have the resources they need for jobs.

    • Implement systems for efficiency, safety, and productivity.

  • Horticulture & Landscape Expertise

    • Apply horticultural knowledge to support best practices in plant care, garden maintenance, and installation projects.

    • Evaluate quality of work to ensure standards in pruning, planting, soil health, and overall landscape care are consistently met.

    • Guide staff in proper techniques, seasonal practices, and long-term care of landscapes.

  • Leadership & Communication

    • Serve as the “eyes and ears” of ownership/management in the field and shops.

    • Communicate clearly and consistently with crews to align them with company goals.

    • Foster a culture of accountability, respect, and teamwork.

    • Report regularly on staff performance, operational issues, and improvements needed.

Job Requirements
Qualifications

Proven leadership or supervisory experience, ideally in landscaping, horticulture, or construction.

Strong knowledge of plants, soils, seasonal care, and landscape maintenance techniques.

Hands-on landscaping or horticultural experience (required).

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to enforce rules firmly but fairly.

Comfortable managing conflict and providing corrective feedback.
