Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Plant Nursery Manager to oversee all operations of our nursery, including tree, shrub, rose and perennial purchasing, sales of all products and staff management. The ideal candidate will have a strong horticultural background and a passion for plants and landscaping.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the plant nursery, including scheduling, planting, watering, pruning, and harvesting of plants.

  • Supervise nursery staff, providing training and feedback on performance.

  • Monitor plant health and implement pest and disease control measures as needed.

  • Maintain inventory levels and order plants and supplies as necessary.

  • Oversee sales activities, including assisting customers, pricing products, and managing point-of-sale transactions.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with wholesale and retail customers, landscapers, and garden centers.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards related to plant health and nursery operations.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 10 hours per day) and lift heavy objects (50+ lbs) multiple times daily.

  • Implement sustainable and environmentally friendly practices within the nursery.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agriculture, or related field (preferred).

  • Proven experience in plant nursery management or a similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of plant propagation, cultivation techniques, and plant health care.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, inventory management software).

  • Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
