Job Description
Schedule and oversee the growing of perennials from start to finish.  Including: Sowing seed, dividing, transplanting, fertilizing, irrigating, organizing growing areas, building new growing areas, and working with the propagation and production managers.  Manage inventory and update due to loss, moving, or division. Perform plant and label inventory in the fall. Order labels and keep them organized. Oversee growing areas and people in charge of those areas to perform their duties in a timely manner. Also, assist in general nursery work such as: installing and fixing irrigation, lining out/harvesting/digging, keeping fields maintained, help pull and load orders if necessary.  Operate equipment such as: skid-steer, tractors, and ATV.  Order materials needed for production. Attend seminars on perennials.

Schedule:  December-February: 40 hours per week

                  April:  Monday-Friday ~ 9  hours per day

                  May-June (In Season): Monday-Friday: 10 hours per day 

                  July-November: Monday-Friday ~ 9 hours per day

                  5 paid National Holidays : Off

 

Salary and Benefits: Based on experience, 35,000-40,000k. We also offer a Simple IRA with 3% company matching. Five paid personal days to start. We will consider paying a portion of health insurance after 1-2 years of full time employment.  Bonus potential. Our plants enjoy a non-smoking environment.

Job Requirements
The ability to work with the propagation and production managers and establish a well-working production team that can meet the nursery’s production goals. Display a willingness to learn an abundance of perennial plants along with their specific growing and production conditions. We also strongly recommend the ability to speak Spanish since the majority of our labor force is comprised of migrant workers. Work with individual workers in their assigned growing areas and oversee the area maintenance.
