REALLY? DID YOU
REALLY SAY THAT?
Okay, we love to
laugh.
A LOT.
We know
recruiting is so much fun; but every once in a while we are surprised by a
candidate question or answer. We’ll try
to post a funny something often.
So, take this
with humor in mind; but also remind yourself as a job seeker NEVER to say this
in an interview. As a recruiter, KNOW we
empathize at keeping a straight face.
Week of November 2nd, 2015
Scenario:
Candidate is asked if they have any questions, typical at the end of an interview, right? "He" replied "Yes, I do. How many women under the age of 30 work here? I just broke up with my girlfriend and am new to the area."
Week of November 9th,
2015.
Scenario:
Candidate is
doing really well; like, REALLY well.
Hits all the marks of the behavioral interview process. She’s
articulate, knows her Latin names of Perennials to an impressive point. THEN, as the interview is winding down she
asks the fatal question. “Is there a way
to earn more commission then what you’re offering? I appreciate your plan, but I intend to have
breast augmentation and I want to go big, REALLY BIG, so that will take extra
money.”
…..and we kept a straight face.
Week of November 16th, 2015.
Scenario:
At the end of the
interview, we simply asked a candidate “are there any tips you can give us that
might help us expedite your training if you are hired for this position?”
Candidate
response: “I get mad really easy and can
be impatient; can you make the training not seem like it’s meant for idiots
like most program are?” Then the candidate
continued to say, “Not that I’m calling your program idiotic, because I haven’t
seen it yet, I just felt it was fair to give you a heads up.”
…..and we kept a straight face.
