WHICH EMOJI DO YOU WANT CANDIDATES OR POSSIBLE FUTURE EMPLOYEES TO RESEMBLE?

Happy New Year to all! We're heading into 2020 with even more information; it's our job to help you be better, more efficient Hiring Managers so we can all have a stronger year in the world of recruiting.

We like to keep an ear to the ground and pass information along when we hear a recurring theme. Prevalent in 2019, candidates spoke up and this complaint/issue seemed to be a top contender.

“Never even heard if my resume was received.”

“Wish the company would at least tell me I’m not being considered.”

“Had a phone call from HR for an initial phone screen, never heard back.”

“Followed up with an email after initial phone call, never heard back.”

 “Tell me I'm not qualified, rejection is better than silence!

We know everyone is busy, BUT, since we preach building a candidate pipeline it’s even more important in 2020 to get back to candidates, even if they're not the right fit. They just MIGHT be the right fit 6 months from now, or, they may know someone that is – and because you left a good taste in their mouth, they’ll refer a colleague when they hear about your open position even if it is 6 months from now. Take a few extra minutes and be up front and responsive in order to remain competitive - we are all representatives of our great Horticulture and Landscaping industries!

Feel free to use our easy, and quick response when a candidate isn’t being considered.

Dear John;

Thank you so much for submitting your application/resume for our Head Grower role.  At this time, we have reviewed your qualifications and unfortunately, it does not appear to be the right fit.

Please be sure to check back regularly on our career page at (insert career page URL) as we will continue to post future positions as they arise.

Again, we appreciate you taking the time to apply and wish you the best in your job search.

All the best!
