Job Description

Mariani Landscape is the largest privately owned residential landscape company in the United States. Located near Lake Michigan’s Lake Front, Mariani clientele own properties with bluffs, ravines, woodlands, prairies, or ponds requiring native plant restoration and management. Restoration technicians are needed to remove invasive plant species (mechanical and chemical), seed, plant, and conduct controlled burns. This position is intended for individuals who have a college degree or vast experience in environmental sciences with the motivation to continue training and learning. Applicants are required to have a strong plant-based knowledge of the Chicagoland region in order to identify native and non-native vegetation. Restoration technicians are expected to complete tasks in a timely fashion, manage all responsibilities given to them, and work together as a team. Other responsibilities include wildlife repellant and snow duties during the off-season if hired full-time.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years experience in natural areas maintenance
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Possess or obtain an Illinois Department of Agriculture Commercial Pesticide Operators License
• Possess or obtain a NWFG S130/S190 Burning certification
• Ability to perform physical outdoor activities in all weather conditions
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds or more
• Ability to carry a 30 lb. backpack sprayer all day
• Knowledgeable in using hand tools and other equipment including but not limited to chainsaws, leaf-blowers, mowers, snow blowers, water pumps, and brush saws
• Willingness to work as a team, a leader, or alone if necessary
• If hired full-time, snow duties including but not limited to snow plowing, blowing, salting, and shoveling will be required
• Has an understanding of Mariani Landscape’s expectations, dress codes, and rules
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
