Logee’s Plants for Home and Garden is a leader in the horticultural industry and we are a destination greenhouse and brick and mortar store, where customers come from all over the eastern seaboard to visit. We are looking for a dynamic person who is a plant enthusiast and can translate their enthusiasm into creating a feel-good experience for all who visit Logee's. Logee's We are a third generation, mail order and retail store garden company. With the recent plant boom, we are in need of an experienced retail store manager who wants to learn about ornamental horticulture and participate in bringing fruiting, rare and tropical plants to the home gardener.

We also specialize in cacti and succulents, gesneriads, aroids, begonias, geraniums, and rare and unusual plants. Our most valuable asset at Logee’s is our staff and we work hard to bring a diversity of people and plants together to experience the joy of gardening. As a locally owned and operated business, we participate in community engagement and environmental stewardship in all aspects of our operations.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated, dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as a retail store manager. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn and grow in the specialty field of ornamental horticulture while working with Logee’s retail staff and how best to service our customers. The Manager will work closely with the retail greenhouse supervisor and retail store assistant manager to bring our plants and gardening products to the customer all while maintaining a great relationship with their retail staff of anywhere between 7-14 workers depending on the time of year. This starts as an hourly full-time position with opportunities for advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. All activities related to having a fully stocked store of healthy plants and products.

2. Manage, schedule and organize a staff of 7-14 people and appropriately assign tasks to their skill levels.

3. Work with the retail greenhouse supervisor to monitor plant health.

4. Conduct regular inspections of plant inventory to assess quality and readiness for sale.

5. Have regular training for staff on Retail procedures from opening to closing to plant care.

6. Work with the store Assistant manager with inventory, ordering product, displays.

7. Maintain cleanliness and organization within the nursery facilities, including greenhouse spaces, store areas, and facilities.

8. Schedule tours, plan events, work with photo shoot requests, etc.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of 5 years of retail experience needed.

2. Previous experience in plant nursery operations, gardening, or a related field a plus.

3. History of supervising a staff

4. Ability to work effectively both as a dynamic leader and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

5. This is a hands-on management position so must be capable of lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

6. Basic knowledge of plants a plus and plant enthusiasm a must.

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shift
  • Day shift
  • 5 days a week - one day must be a weekend.
  • Rotating coverage for Holidays
