Job Description
 
The Seasonal Gardener will be a temporary member of the Graceful Gardens team to help with the seasonal rush, under the supervision of General Manager and appointed Lead Gardeners.
 
The Seasonal Gardener will be responsible for assisting with the installation, care, and maintenance of client’s gardens, containers, and irrigation systems. These tasks are performed while working collaboratively with a small team. The Seasonal Gardener's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities
Arriving on time and prepared for work and client appointments.
 
Helping stage equipment, supplies, and materials for daily appointments.
 
Performing seasonal gardening work including planting, pruning, garden cleanup, bulb planting, dividing and transplanting, soil amendment, leaf removal, and mulching.
 
Using company tools and supplies with care while helping monitor equipment maintenance and needs.
 
Occasional weekend and/or overtime work involving care and maintenance of inventory kept at the base of operations and other general maintenance tasks.
 
Interacting with clients and representing Graceful Gardens in a professional manner while treating client’s property with care and confidentiality. The employee must have respect for the client’s privacy and safety.
 
Exercising personal safety.

Requirements: 
 
Enthusiasm to “hustle” on a daily basis on manual labor tasks.
 
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
 
Casual or formal experience with gardening or farming, as well as eagerness to expand knowledge through on-the-job training.
 
Detail-oriented, with considerable attention to order and cleanliness.
 
A love of gardening and an appreciation for the power of plants to transform space and improve the quality of urban life.
 
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment and communicate efficiently.
 
Must be available to work some overtime and weekends.

Physical and Mental Demands: 
 
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
 
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and lift up to fifty (50) pounds multiple times and on a daily basis. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, controls, operate machinery, drive vehicles, stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

This position requires the ability to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action at any given point in time. You must be able to handle multiple tasks and diverse work problems on a daily basis. You must be able to handle stressful situations and interact with various personalities at all levels at Graceful Gardens, while also prioritizing your workload.

Schedule
 
Applicants must be available Tuesday – Friday starting ASAP after interviews.
 
The weekly schedule is Tuesday – Friday, with overtime opportunities on weekends and Mondays.
 
Workday hours are 8AM – 6:30PM, with a 30 minute lunch break.

Note that this is a seasonal position. We hope to bring someone on by mid September and keep them on board until the season winds down, likely end of November or no later than December 20.

Compensation: 
 
The hourly wage for this position is $15.
